Beauty blogger Heather from Of Beauty and Nothingness shares some AW15 makeup tips from the September issue of Elle.
Elle has been one of my favourite, if not my all time favourite, magazines since I was a teenager. I've always bought a copy and I've always wanted a subscription! As a beauty blogger I love the beauty section the most in any magazine and although Elle’s section is great, I wish it were bigger.
The feature that caught my eye in the September edition was The Trend Report piece on the latest beauty trends for AW15. The feature not only includes the main trends but also specific products and shades that fit with each. From winter beachy hairstyles, androgynous makeup, burgundy shades and 70s inspired makeup – it's all going on!
With the change of the seasons I always change up my makeup products to suit my skin and try to keep up with the current makeup and seasonal trends of the moment. This also helps me sort out which products I actually use and ones that may need to be thrown away or given to friends.
My favourite trend from this season has to be the burgundy tones, which come around every autumn winter and I love it. Whether it's burgundy nails or a bold burgundy lip, it's very autumnal and festive to me so I will definitely be switching up my makeup collection soon to include more autumnal shades.
The 70s trend is also one I will be trying to recreate as I love that era. 70s makeup – featuring tan tones, gold eyeshadows and highlighter – seems like a great summer-to-autumn look, especially if paired with burgundy nails or a burgundy lip. Additionally the boy/girl or androgynous makeup sounds like a trend I would love too, with a strong emphasis on brows and sleek hairstyles.
The hair looks don't interest me personally as much as I am awful at making nice hairstyles – my hair is usually in a ponytail or left to its own devices! For each look you can find a video tutorial on the Elle website so you can recreate the looks to a tee.
As always the beauty section of Elle doesn't disappoint and I can't wait to try out some of the gorgeous AW15 makeup looks from The Trend Report feature.
